Who doesn’t enjoy a good quote? Often reading quotes from inspirational or knowledgeable folk can give you that extra oomph or motivation that you need.
Therefore, we thought we would have a browse into some of the most interesting quotes around data (as you do) and share them for your deliberation.
Of course, it's always good to know who the person quoting these things actually are, so we did a little digging on that too, just for fun (maybe we do need to get out more)
"Who has the data has the power" Tim O’Reilly
We particularly enjoyed this quote from Mr O'Reilly, as yes, he is perhaps referring to data in the sense of information here, but this is ultimately what our entire business ethos is concerned around.
Whoever is holding your data ultimately has the power, power over you, over your organisations's operation and reputation, data itself is one the THE most powerful assets of your business and at no point should the security of your data be compromised, even when it is rendered as 'useless', as it enters the redundant phase of its life-cycle, in actual fact, this could even be said to be the most important part to get right, as you will be handing over personal and company sensitive information to a third party, can you be sure they are handling and destroying all your data in the most secure way?
But who is Tim O'Reilly?
Founder and CEO of O’Reilly Media Inc, Tim wanted to go into business to basically create interesting work for interesting people, in which he actively sets to encourage companies to create value. O’Reilly Media provides online learning, book publishing services and hosts conferences, it is said that Tim has been the catalyst for many conversations that has reshaped the computer industry.

A similar line of thought here with Tim O'Reilly's second entry above, with this quote from Tim Berners- Lee, and it's safe to say being the creator of the World Wide Web he knows a thing or two about this stuff (Find out more about this guy here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/berners_lee_tim.shtml)
A mathematician that is said to be a pioneer of computing, read more: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/babbage_charles.shtml
We can definitely vouch for this, it's all about the data here! #TapeMediaExperts

You can be sure that your data has all your precious secrets, be sure to protect it.
In 1991 Ronald won a Nobel Prize for his discovery and clarification of the significance of transaction costs and property rights for the institutional structure and functioning of the economy (wow). Read more about Ronald Coase here: https://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/bios/Coase.html
Quite a scary thought from Robert Mueller here, but the reason why we always encourage our customers to consider an offline, tape back-up system within their infrastructure.
An American attorney and former Director of the FBI (Read more on Robert: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Mueller)
Barton knows, tape may not be seem as 'sexy' or sleek as the modern online alternatives but it does allow you to take the reigns with your data.
A journalist and author known for his reports on the September 11 attacks and on the global surveillance disclosure, read more on Barton: https://www.bartongellman.com/bio.php
